PHIT Ambassadors

2024-2025 PHIT Ambassadors

Kaila Long (she/her) is a fourth year Informatics Major with double minors in Information and Computer Science and Health Informatics. She was born and raised in Ontario, CA. Her interests lie in the intersection between technology and other disciplines, specifically how technology can be used to improve operations for essential fields like health and education. Outside of being a student and PHIT ambassador, Kaila is also president of the Southeast Asian Student Association, an education director for Commit the Change, and a designer/research assistant for the Design and Partnership Lab at UCI. When she has the time, Kaila enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing Stardew Valley, and trying out new sweet treats around Orange County.

Hailey Shah (she/her) is a third year Public Health Sciences and Health Informatics major from Torrance, CA. Some of her academic interests include understanding health disparities and using interventions to reduce health inequity. She currently researches under the SERVE OC lab and is a part of student organizations on campus such as GMT (Global Medical Training) and KUCI. In the time she occasionally has, she loves to online shop, sing, binge tv, and do classical Indian dance.

Jaini Thakkar (she/her) is a third-year Public Health Policy Major with a minor in Health Informatics from Corona, CA. Some of her interests include health data management and its role in fighting health disparities. She is also part of this year’s UC PRIME Pre-Health Pathways (UC3P) program cohort. She also works in the CHIP lab on the Cal-IHEA project (California Initiative for Health Equity and Action) with Dr. Denise Payan to address health disparities in Central Valley. In her (somewhat) free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with her friends, and trying out new cafes.
