Expanding horizons: Wen Public Health in Mexico

This year, the UC Irvine Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health began exploring new opportunities for students to engage with organizations in Mexico through community-based public health practice. What started as outreach from Wen Public Health faculty — making connections and identifying shared goals — quickly grew into a collaborative effort supported by the UC Irvine Office of Educational & Community Partnerships, which organized a visit to Centro Fox and Vamos México, a center and foundation led by former president of Mexico Vicente Fox Quesada and Doña Martha Sahagún de Fox.

Many of the students who traveled as part of this opportunity were UCI PHIT Summer 2025 student interns, Janeth Cabanas, Lorena Diaz Maya, Vilma Hernandez, Ana Anjelica Alcaraz, and Miriam Ojeda.
